We’re super proud to announce that we are the first carbon-negative shop in Maidenhead (and far beyond!).
Since Filling Good was founded our zero-waste philosophy has been to reduce our environmental impact, by following the 5Rs:
Refuse > Reduce > Reuse > Recycle > Rot
Three years later, the shop is in the fortunate position to be able to donate a large proportion of its profits to environmental charities and carbon compensation projects.
This means we can offset the 4.5 tonnes of CO2 the shop has produced and use our investment to compensate for a further
516 tonnes of CO2! (Amazing right!)
The projects we are supporting this fiscal year (2021-22) are:
Tree Sisters – a reforestation scheme that works in harmony with trees and their communities, to help the planet to survive and thrive. Tree Sisters has so far funded the planting of over 26 million trees across 12 locations in Brazil, Borneo, Cameroon, India, Kenya, Mozambique, Madagascar, Nepal, and West Papua.
FILLING GOOD’S CONTRIBUTION = 83T CO2
Gold Standard - manage best practice standards for climate and sustainable development projects to maximize impact, while creating value for people around the world and the planet we share.
We are contributing to two Gold Standard projects:
Terraclear Project, Laos - a sustainable solution to produce emission-free water for rural areas; to improve the health and economy of the local community and conserve local forests.
Biomass Power Project, India - to support the installation of a 20 MW biomass-based power project that generates electricity using rice husks; to reduce waste and emissions from fossil fuels.
FILLING GOOD’S CONTRIBUTION = 433T CO2
