Retail assistant
Minimum of 5 hours every other Sunday from September 2023 – ad hoc shifts during the summer-zero hours contract – possibility of increase depending on personal and shop performance
Before the shop opens:
Perform the food safety opening checks
Make sure that the shop is clean and looks welcoming
Make sure that there is enough product in the gravity dispensers, shelves, etc…
During the shift:
Warmly welcome customers, propose help for serving
Make the rules of the shop respected (no children using pumps or gravity dispensers, first weigh your container before filling it, etc…)
Clean up any spillage that may occur
Clean different items according the cleaning plan
Make sure to refill any gravity dispenser, scoop bin, shelf etc… along (some heavy lifting)
Get familiar with the products to be able to advise customers – what is local, what is organic, what are the portions per person for dry food, sustainability aspect of the products…
Make sure all the food safety rules are respected
Report any specific items to the managers and inform other volunteers on the ROTA chat on WhatsApp
After the morning shift:
Briefly inform the afternoon volunteers if there is anything special to know about
After the closing:
Perform the food safety closing checks, sign them
Perform the cleaning tasks thanks to the cleaning plan
General:
Having done the Filling Good training incl. Food safety (provided)
Know the common procedures for the operations in the shop (receiving orders, updating the system, vouchers, batch changes, etc…)
Know the fire safety procedure
Excellent personal hygiene and presentation
